Proudly Serving the Beverage and Hospitality Industry in Montana

Montana taverns are original "Main Street" small businesses throughout the state. The Montana Tavern Association, originally named the Montana Licensed Liquor Dealers Association, was incorporated October 14, 1937, and shares a long history with our membership.

The MTA was formed for the mutual protection and benefit of its membership. Its purpose back in 1937:

  • to provide advice, direction and assistance;
  • to aid in the promotion of trade;
  • to recommend regulation that would further their interests and to cooperate with State Regulators by initiating or assisting in the control and regulation of the retail sale of alcoholic beverages.

Today our purpose remains the same as reflected in our mission statement: To preserve and enhance the hospitality industry. Our advocacy efforts have been very effective on the state level in passing legislation that benefits the industry. The MTA is one of the most effective lobbying organizations in our state. Our members are active in their local communities, as well as at the state and federal level, on issues of importance to the licensed beverage industry.

Benefits of becoming a member of the MTA are immeasurable. From representing you at the legislature and keeping abreast of all the latest news to hosting the biggest event in Montana for on-premise licensees at our annual convention and tradeshow - you can be sure the MTA is working hard to preserve and enhance the hospitality industry!
